Pushkar

An ancient city, revered as a sacred place, it has found mentions in many Hindu mythologies and other important Indian scriptures.

Pushkar, also known as the town of fairs and festivities, located amidst the western Aravalli Ranges on the shore of the natural Pushkar Lake, around 10 kilometers from the city of Ajmer, is a favored destination for thousands of tourists and devotees flocking to Rajasthan.

Popularly called the ‘Rose Garden of Rajasthan,’ this city buzzes with historical charm and warmth of the past.

The presence of hundreds of stunning temples including the only ‘Lord Brahma Temple’ in the world, and several gurudwaras makes this place an essential pilgrimage in India for the Hindu and Sikh faith holders.

The noteworthy history of this tranquil temple town has garnered attention from domestic and international tourists. Its connectivity to important cities like Jaipur, Ajmer, Delhi make this place a popular weekend getaway for all. The place offers many recreational activities like – boating on the lake, camel safaris, camping and hikes, cable-car rides, shopping for local handicrafts, along with the alluring points of interest like – the Rose Garden, Mertha, Pushkar Bazaar, Varaha Ghat etc. that are worth exploring during a short rendezvous.

Primarily famed for its annual ‘Pushkar Mela’, a Cattle Fair organized during the month of October/November for five days, is the grandest celebration where thousands of locals and tourists gather to savor rides, folk performances, and shows. The fair is well-known for the trading of numerous cattle, horses and camels from distinct parts of the country.
